2005 saw Max’s first year of national racing. Max’s results steadily improved and he ended the season with 5th at Kartmasters, 6th at Llandow Stars of Tomorrow and 5th at Buckmore Stars of Tomorrow. His overall positions were 16th in both Stars of Tomorrow and Super 1. During 2005 Max joined the Fusion team and, with the help of Dan Hazlewood, Max’s progress was obvious. He remained with Fusion, which became Fusion Young Guns, and over the winter of 2005/6 Piers Sexton worked very successfully with him, achieving numerous wins at club rounds at Shenington, Wigan, Rowrah and PF.
